This concept embodies Longridge’s philosophy of making Premium Wines, with a young and modern personality with the prevalence of fresh fruit flavours and aromas, resulting from the grapes situated on the slopes of the Helderberg. They are innovative wines that stand out for their bright & intense colours, and their approachability.
The elegantly crafted range of Longridge wines immediately caught the attention of the wine world when the maiden vintage Chardonnay received international acclaim in 1993. Accolades and awards for the estate’s wines continued to accumulate and besides the iconic Chardonnay, the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon soon gained impressive reputations both locally and internationally. Recently, two of the prolific South African varietals Chenin Blanc and Pinotage have performed equally well. The Longridge Pinotage has been recognized numerously at the Top 10 Pinotage Competition. In addition, the quality of the current Chenin Blanc vintage has been well received by critics worldwide and was awarded gold not only in South Africa at the Michelangelo and Veritas Wine Wards Awards, but also at the highly prestigious Decanter International Wine Awards.
More recently, three Longridge wines were included in the Top 100 SA wines selection, namely the 2008 Longridge Brut, the 2009 Longridge Chardonnay and 2008 Longridge Merlot.
