September, 2019. Stellenbosch: Longridge Wine Estate will host their annual open-air feast in the stunning Estate gardens around a shared table hosted by Japer Raats, Longridge cellar master, chef Maritz Jacobs and master gardener Sally Raats. Guests will immerse themselves in the stunning setting while being spoiled by the bounty of the Helderberg wine valley.
The farm to table feast, popularly known as Langtafel will take place on Friday 6 March 2020. It is as much a celebration of the harvest season as of food, wine and friends. The al fresco style dinner will showcase the day’s harvest of fresh produce and will be paired alongside the estate’s highly acclaimed wines.
A “lang tafel” (long table), almost 100m in length, is set under the stars in the garden, overlooking moonlit vines and breathtaking views of the False Bay Peninsula and Table Mountain. On the evening, chef Maritz Jacobs, will offer the almost 200 guests with a bounty of seasonally inspired local produce paired with the exclusively selected and elegantly crafted wines of the Estate. The delicious six course menu will be served family-style, curated to highlight the best of what is in season at the Longridge treasured gardens.
During March, the peak of summer in Stellenbosch, the organic vegetable garden is at its seasonal peak and the grapes hang heavy in anticipation of the next vintage. Master gardener, Sally Raats, is dedicated to the holistic philosophy of Longridge Wine Estate; practices that are applied to farming methods and practised from the animals in the pastures to the vineyard and the garden, and ultimately to the restaurant table.
The Langtafel farm-to-table celebration is an annual event that gives locals and visitors to the region the opportunity to enjoy some of the exclusive Estate wines, limited in volume and availability. Live entertainment will turn the event into an unforgettable experience that goes well into the night with impromptu dancing on the restaurant veranda. This lavish feast is the epitome of a perfect wine country culinary experience that can’t be missed by locals and travelers alike.
